Cheers Dave. It certainly was hot on Thursday and even worse on Saturday when I was cricketing. Glad it all went well.

Ok a few pics of the 3-days on the Hogsmill

First job was to fill many many sand bags to block off the flow and move them down to the weir along with all the other parts and tools

The area sand bagged

After plenty of measuring and using a template Neil set out drilling, and drilling, and drilling,

The bars down the side were set to increase the depth, the inner parts are the deflectors

This day 2 with the risers in place

Getting them all in place and fixed was tricky, they used a special fixing resin which does set underwater, the holes drilled out, then plugged with the resin and set in. They use the same stuff if you ever see bolts around lamp posts, that sort of thing, messy business.

Being put into an applicator

Being squirted in

Never get this stuff on your hands, really !

The template for the deflectors

The deflectors

More drilling and setting

The Crab Man

The next new one was using Underwater Mortar, yes it exists. It was used to plug the gaps underneath the deflectors, very effective

This is the finished job

Saturday we moved a ton of rocks just down from the tail to create a rock ramp, and moved most of the sandbags back up.  All 3-days in extreme temperatures, felt lucky being in the water.

There is a further part of the project still to do as the drop at the tail was slightly more than expected and the water slightly fast, date to be confirmed for that but overall a cracking job by the TAC boys helping out the South East Rivers Trust on one of our significant local tribs.

I do have a short video that will be uploaded

A massive thanks again to Neil D, Keith Crab and Ian C for getting down and dirty on this one, really enjoyed and learnt a lot
