I'm in Kevin if it still goes ahead    Initially Aragon put me off as it's been mobbed there last few years at the end of the season but will be good to get out.

Sorry Kevin have no idea why I read your post as Aragon. You did of course say Rivermead...a better choice to get room, good shout.

Will only just get back in time from a few days on the Wye, but would like to make this last fish-in of the season. Would be great to meet some fellow TACsters.

I am up for coming along. Never fished for barbel though - any tips on best kit to take? Most appropriate rods? Good baits to bring along?

With the flow the way it is I'd say 2lb TC rods and above if you have them James. Even on yellow boards you'll need I think 4oz to hold, plus the weight of a big bait, so you need something robust to cast that. Of course ,you could get away with lighter fishing closer in.

Baits - pellets or meat baits would give you as good a chance as anything I guess.

Cheers Steve - have to admit I am not a technical angler so don't even know the lb curve of the rods I have. Just use the most appropriate one that seems to fit the conditions.

Circumstances permitting, I really hope to be there - can you please PM me the coordinates/details of the venue. I have never been there!

Where do you park, on the main road or do you have to go up a side-street?

heres a map
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Rivermead+Island/@51.4064951,-0.4033393,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x487674eba02a5d51:0xfab6d7985f075fe8

You can Park on the Main road just before the Island if coming from hampton court direction or the public car park which is free after 6pm which is on the right just past the Island.
Theres then a little bridge over the stream on to the island, walk straight ahead and you will come to the river, its not a long walk.

I will be fishing a bit lighter in the Margins as they do come along the inside. The Main flow is still really strong and I was bouncing a 6 oz lead through the other night but a 3oz was holding in the slacker margins fine.

Good luck lads - hope it goes well. Was hoping to get out myself tonight but unable to, so have decided to wait until tomorrow when it will be less busy.

Anyone who intended to come but couldn't make it, you didn't miss much.

None of us had a nibble and some of us even packed in before midnight...full moon, water raging thru, temp dropping fast - just didn't feel right.

A couple of brave souls have stayed on lead by Kev but if they catch anything I'll eat the last of my lobworms  jocolor
